Hello all. I'm having a strange issue with my PAP2 and BEFSR41 router. Everything has been working just fine until today. Now when I power on all devices the PAP2 is not getting an IP address from the router's DHCP server. The power light blinks 3 times (long blink, pause, 2 short blinks). I did the IVR reset sequence from the manual but it didn't help. I tried different cables, ports and nothing helped. Any ideas what else might help here? Thanks a bunch.

Here is another thing I noticed. I did the 87778# sequence to reset the PAP2 and then it did get an IP address for about 1 or 2 seconds. After that time it got dropped again for no reason. And the same power light sequence occurs again. 1 long blink followed by 2 shorter blinks, then repeated.

Well, looks like 1 long blink following by 2 short blinks. No ethernet light is lit. Could it be the problem with the firmware? I'm simply out of any solutions... argh..

I would've absolutely done so but the only phone I could use was the Vonage line, which doesn't work now...

It sounds like a firmware issue, but just to eliminate the possibility that something odd is going on with your router, try plugging the PAP2 directly into your modem and seeing what happens.

I'm going to try and plug the PAP2 box to my friend's office network today and see what happens. After 6-7 emails with Vonage Customer Care they said that due to the complexity of the issue they're forwarding it to the Tier 2 support...

I've seen the Linksys BEFSR41 router either stop handing out DHCP client IP addresses or take a really long time to hand them out. Try entering a static IP address on the PAP2 that is in the range of the router but outside of the range of the DHCP server. The default range IP of the BEFSR41 is 192.168.1.x and the default DHCP server range is 192.168.1.101-150 so I would use 192.168.1.10.

The other issue that tends to develop with the DHCP one on the BEFSR41 is that it stops routing all together so even if the static IP works for a while it might not work perminantly...

Yeah, I'm pretty sure right now that the problem is with the router itself. I went to my friends' office to test the PAP2 box and it worked flawlessly with the static IP address. I tried static IP with BEFSR41 and it didn't work, I even updated the firmware and no luck at all. Looks like the router is half-dead now. The only weird thing is that the PC works just fine with it, even with DHCP.
