PostPosted: Tue Sep 05, 2006 4:06 am    Post subject: DLINK VTA Phone 1 blinking no dial tone Reply with quote Back to top

Hi,

Yesterday the internet connection went out and when it came back on there was no dial tone on my phone. I have a Dlink VTA adapter.

The PHONE 1 line is constantly blinking even if i dont connect the RJ-11 cable at times.

I tried powering off everything in sequence and also hard reset. But there is still no dial tone on my phone.

The Phone 1 line is still blinking every second. I dont know what this means.

Pls help.

I have been using the Vonage set successfully for the last 2 months.

There has been no dial tone since yesterday after the internet connection came back on.

I can browse the internet but there is no dial tone.

Please help.

if the power light on the vta is blinking - chances are, the phone port light too.

try pressing reset button for 30 secs and observe if powerlight wil stay solid - otherwise, unplug power on the vta and then wait for 1minute then power it on again.

if it continues to do the same thing, ur vta needs to be replaced.

do u have a router in between btw?

Power light is solid green and so in the internet light.

No i dont have a router in between, just the modem and the VTA

I have tried resetting it and powering it off.

Why does the phone 1 light blink? any idea?

And there was no power outage, just that the internet connection went down and came back up. After that no dial tone.

Phone 1 keeps blinking. Power light is solid green and so in the internet light.

Only phone 1 is blinking !

Pls help....!!!

hmm...usually when the power light is solid phone light comes solid too. i guess u have to call tech support and have them swtch ur phone number to the other phone port - see if its the phone port that is causing this issue - but most likely it is..

if u want, u may try to hard reset it before calling them..

Aman2k000, usually a blinking phone light means that you either have a phone off the hook or that you have phone mail on the Vonage system. Since you indicate that it continues to blink when you unplug everything from the phone port, that seems to eliminate the off-hook phone. Do I have this straight?

Phone mail also seems to be an unlikely explanation since you don't have dial tone, indicating that the adapter isn't communicating with the Vonage server. However, you should check your phone to make sure that it and the cord you're using with it are good. Then plug the phone directly into the adapter- no house wiring or other complication!- and verify that you do or don't have dial tone.

Steve,

Thanks so much. I had called the customer service and they said that the adapter isnt communicating to the Vonage Server .

They switched the phone ports to phone 2 and asked me to reset , power off and try again. I did. I also plugged it into phone 2 as they wanted me to do.

But Phone 1 is still blinking !!! No dial tone again.

The PHONE 1 line is constantly blinking even if i dont connect the RJ-11. Btw, the phone is direct

I have mailed them back . But no response since 18 hours now.

I think it is a problem with their settings somewhere now.

Does anyone have a idea on what might be wrong ? Is it the adapter ? DO i have to get a new one from them ?But since the power is solid and internet is solid i m not sure.

Please helpp.

Try connecting the power adapter to a different electrical outlet.

You could have connected the (Black) power adapter to a power strip.

Please post the rest of the technical details listed in the sticky message at the top of the forum.

Did you check out the telephone as I suggested? What results?
