I just wanted to make a post here to let everyone know about a strange outage that started yesterday that has been effecting me. Roadrunner/Timewarner/Earthlink(all the same company) customers in the Ohio/Michigan area were not able to use their Vonage service. Upon further inspection, I could not even get to Vonage.com or ping any of Vonage's other sites, vonage.net, *.voncp.com or any other Vonage site in any location across the US. I could however get to any other site on the Internet. Customers who live next door who had a different ISP were able to use their Vonage service and connect to any Vonage server without a problem.
Vonage said investigated the issue and contacted TimeWarner, they said it was a network outage on their end causing the issue and it should be fixed shortly. TimerWarners network status page backs up this claim, saying that the entire area effected was fully without service(which they were not). Now today, I can access Vonage.com again, and ping all of the sites they they could not yesterday, however their Vonage service still does not work. It appears that RoadRunner is/was blocking the ports that Vonage's uses. Of course RoadRunner deny's this claim, and still lists this area as having a full network outage on their status page. Vonage again says that it is getting calls from all RoadRunner customers saying the cannot connect.
This afternoon, I checked into the issue again, and Vonage told me that now, not only is the Ohio area experiencing this issue but all of the East Coast. I checked the RoadRunner status page and again, all of the east coast showing full network outage.
I just thought I would share this with you guys, as it almost appears that RoadRunner is maliciously blocking Vonage's service. So, if you are a RoadRunner customer this may be the issue that is causing your Vonage service not to work at this time. |

I'm running Road Runner in Central Florida. So far so good. |

It was out about 4 to 5 hours here in Ohio, but not a full outage. We were able to access some sites, and not other sites. Of course, like you, Vonage was not reachable.
I'm curious, what site do you go to to see the status of the entire Road Runner network? I'd like to be able to go there myself. |

Pick your area and then click on network status. |

Whoops, double post.
Still showing "Road Runner is currently experiencing issues with the cable network. Subscribers in the affected area(s) may experience a loss of connectivity, usually indicated by flashing modem lights and/or a loss of video service. Our engineers are working quickly to resolve this issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause." for my area. |

Road Runner is doing fine here in the MidSouth.
I really don't trust the network status pages, as my area's "Internet Connectivity" has had an "Unplanned event/outage" for over a year! |
