After a ton of hard work and months of beta testing, I am happy to announce the release of the vonage-forum.com/toolbar.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" class="postlink">Vonage Forum Toolbar
It is available for both Firefox and Internet Explorer users and will provide easy desktop access to your Vonage Voicemail and total minutes used during the current billing period for all Vonage.com, Vonage.ca and Vonage.uk users.
Please use this thread to make suggestions or to report any bugs.
Thank you,
Dan |

I use Firefox and find that almost all of the features in the toolbar unnecessary clutter. I think that it would make a much better extension for Firefox if it was in the bottom tray and not a toolbar. The search box, link to the forum, and pop-up blocker are all unnecessary for FF users, and IE7.
In Firefox I find the fact that it is taller than the bookmarks tool bar distracting, although it may look better without the bookmarks toolbar.
I've also found that the LogIn button seems to have no affect for me. Only after I visit the Vonage.com page and log in does it display the number of used minutes and display voicemail. If I try the voicemail feature before logging in I get this:
I respect all the work you've done on this, but I don't think its for me. I would much prefer a small icon/text in the status bar and a search engine plug-in. |

I'm sorry Dan,
Just too much "Stuff" that I seldom need to warrant taking up another line on my computer. Now if you could pack that VM icon in my system tray I would use that.
Thanks, |

I am listening, and the programmers are reading.
Thank you for the feedback.

Dan,
I agree 110% with "OldSnipe". Though appreciated, the last thing I want is another toolbar. If the voicemail indicator could be incorporated into the toolbar (Windows Live Toolbar) that I already have, that would be ideal. The Windows Live Toolbar is customizable and allows for the development of custom buttons for the toolbar. You can find more information on this at: http://gallery.live.com/DevCenter.aspx?l=2
If the above is not possible, the voicemail indicator in the system tray would work very nicely. |

Vonage.ca and firefox user here:
Clicking on my minutes gives me this:
404 Not Found
/vonage-web/billing/index_did.htm was not found on this server.
Resin 2.1.17 (built Thu Dec 8 15:09:04 PST 2005)
Thanks - I also second the removal of the magnification, pup-up blocker and also the search as FF has a search bar |

I don't want to hijack this thread, but that is essentially what the Voicemail Retriever (a small application I wrote a few months back) does. http://vonage.luthertech.com |

I tried VM Receiver and bought it. It will only run on 1 of my computers, (I have 3). It will nor erase the message from the Vonage Site and it will not extinguish the VM light on my phone.
Not very useful |

Hmm, I wonder if we're talking about the same thing? The small app I wrote is called Voicemail Retriever, not Receiver, and it's free so there's nothing to buy. It should run on any PC capable of running the .Net 2.0 framework and other than the occasional glitch of not resetting the VM indicator it's been working well for me. Even if I'm not running it and I delete a VM from the Vonage website sometimes I still have to delete the VM from the trash as well before my message waiting indicator goes off. I think it's just a system issue with Vonage's voicemail server. |

I gave the Voicemail Retriever application a try. Real nice. Had to download the .NET stuff first, but works very well. I wish the Vonage Toolbar were something other than a toolbar. I de-installed it because it took up too much space on the browser. Already have the Yahoo toolbar, it just gets too cluttered.
BTW, I am curious, my Yahoo Spyware Application identified several downloaded components of the Vonage Toolbar as spyware. Why is that? |
