I don't know if anybody else has seen this, but, anybody who is currently using DSG's FreeTalk service is being moved over to Vonage in mid September. I got an e-mail about it last night saying that I would have to phone up and then Vonage would send me a new unit and take over my number.
I'm a bit hacked off over this because the FreeTalk service works properly, CLI is correct, 1571 gives you voicemail, 1471 tells you the correct number unlike Vonage - I have both.
Be interesting to see how long the line is down for during the changeover |

Or 0800 008 6000 if you are in the UK.
Vonage say that the new service will be the same as they already provide in the UK which is a shame considering not all of the features they say work do and we will loose access to 1571 voicemail (1571 is the UK standard voicemail access number) |

Maybe this will make Vonage realise they have UK customers and finally get them to make a UK friendly telephone service by ditching all this 441xxxxx nonsense and replacing it with 01xxxxx etc. Implementing 1571 instead of *123 for voicemail. 141 to withhold the number instead of *67. Using an English voicemail voice like freetalk do and finally change the £ to #.
For all they say it's dificult, you can usually change feature codes yourself on an unlocked linksys pap2 for example, and probably could with Vonage units if they actually allowed user access to the "regional settings". It seems it's too much trouble to adapt their system to UK spec, after months and months of various postings nothing's ever changed.
The CLI issue is getting tedious now, there's no reason why they can't get it to work properly, it has before, so why is it all wrong again with these extra 0's in front of the number. Perhaps they should contact BT sine-net to get everything all in order for uk customers... |

I'm with you on that. We keep on paying good money for a service which doesn't do what it claims to.
Maybe it's time for a couple of county court claims for all monies paid to date. It might make them sit up and take some notice, but then again given their usual attitude I doubt it. |

I agree that Vonage UK considers the UK as another Area of the USA, we pay for a Voip service and in return we seem to be getting all the problems mentioned on a Regular Basis. ie. Extra 00 in Caller display, American Voice Mail and +44 dial codes.
Its about time that someone in Vonage UK pulls their Finger out ,and provides the UK subscribers with a proper Voip phone service.
Remember that If the Service is CRAP then the Shares will go down and suddenly Vonage may be overtaken by another company
The power of Users forum is that it spreads Good and BAD News fast!!!
Please can we have some action to Improve the Vonage UK service |

This whole thing gets even better.
If you opt to transfer over to Vonage you are not able to get the current international promotion, even though you are signing up as a new customer. The only way you can get it and keep your freetalk number is if you pay a new connection fee and give Vonage any credit already owed to you by Freetalk.
I have to say that having been a customer of Vonage since their UK launch I am not totally hacked off with them. I have just called to cancel all of my existing services, but they are closed because of the US national holiday - HELLO we are British and you are offering service in Britain. We don't care if you have a national holiday today, we don't and we want service. Oh I forget i'm talking about Vonage and they don't care about their British customers. |

Our Freetalk service changed over on Friday to Vonage quite smoothly. They issued a temporary Vonage phone number and sent out a motorola adaptor. They advised that the freetalk number would port over to replace the temp Vonage one on Friday, and it did around 8.00pm. The only gripe I have now is that it appears that the Motorola adaptors are not really geared up for uk spec. The phone connected to the new motorola adapter now rings like a foreign phone. Instead of : brr-brr - - brr-brr - - brr-brr it is brrrrrrr--brrrrrrr--brrrrrrrr. The caller display will not work properly. When the phone is connected to the BT line it is fine and when it was connected to the Freetalk adapter it was fine, but now when a call comes in it just displays "call" so you can't see who is calling. The only way to find out is to check the phone after it's stopped ringing, which is not the way it should work. When the phone rings the callers number should appear, again it's some US style of transmission and not UK. The uk is not an additional state of the US so please Vonage - sort all these issues out... |

If you contact Vonage, they should be able to log in to your adaptor and solve the Caller ID problem...not sure about the other things. |
