Has anybody had any trouble using the Microsoft Remote Assistance tool built into Windows/Microsoft Messanger using the Motorola VT 2442? If so, have you been able to fix it? |

How do I use Microsoft NetMeeting and MSN Messenger with Vonage Service? To enable Microsoft Programs such as MSN Messenger and NetMeeting you will need to enable Port Forwarding. Please use the following ports:
Windows Messenger - voice (computer to Phone) UDP: 2001 - 2120 6801, 6901 MSN Messenger - file transfers TCP : 6891 - 6900 notes: Allows up to 10 simultaneous transfers
MSN Messenger - voice communications computer to computer TCP: 6901 UDP: 6901
MSN Messenger - instant text messages
TCP: 1863 |

Voice and Text, not exactly what I asked for. Windows Messanger offers a 'Remote Assistance' feature. I used to be able to use that before I had this router. (I had a DLink previously.) I think the ports are 3389 for Remote Assist, but I'm having trouble with it. |

Try putting your PC you want to remote to in a DMZ setting on your motorola device. Make sure you assign a static ip to your motorola device so the dmz settings stick. dmz basically forwards all ports. try that. my pc is in a dmz and i can remote to it. |

ports are ports. you pop open the firewall with the dmz and you can access it. |

The PC I want to remote is on another set of IPs. The PC I want to use to remote is on my network, and now in the DMZ. This didn't work.
I can't put every computer I want to remote control using MSM's Remote Assist in the DMZ... I don't always know who I need to help. |
