Post subject: Question-Connecting Vonage TA to Switch connected to Router
I have a Linksys WRT54G Router connected to my cable "modem." The WRT54G router has a built-in four port switch on the back. I needed more ports so I bought a Linksys EZXS55W switch to connect to the router to give me additional ports.
I have connected the switch with a CAT5 cable from one of the router's switched ports to the uplink port on the switch. Everthing seems to work o.k. when I moved the connections from the router switched ports to the Linksys Workgroup switch EXCEPT the Linksys
Vonage
TA. When I plug it in, only the "link" LED lights. The "100" LED does not light since the TA is 10Mbps which is normal, but the "Full/Coll" light is also off meaning it is in half-duplex mode which is not normal. Also the TA just does not work when I do this port move.
I tried taking CAT5 cable and moving it to the port next to the uplink port (they are tied together) and everything works as expected - except the
Vonage
TA.
The "uplink" port on the switch is really a mystery to me since the switch seems to work whether or not I use it.
I thought the switch would act just like an extension of the router switch with everything being rather transparent to the connected devices.
Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
