Hi, i am new to the vonage forum. my question may have already been addressed, if it has i have not been able to find the tread. I was hoping that some might be able to help or point me in the right direction.
I have previously been using a d-link router set to dynamic IP. This have worked fine for my high speed satellite internet connection. But I have not been able to connect with the phone adapter that vonage sent me. I think that it is a relatively new device offered by vonage. It is the motorola vt2442. I have tried to go into the settings, but the cannot figure out what i need to set to make it work (i not network guy). I tried reading the manuel on the dvd rom, and tried to get back in the set up after checking my settings on my d-link, but i can't pull up the page any more. the power light also is flashing (flashes twice, pauses and does it again) and won't stop no matter how long I wait (about 30 min). In the manuel it says it is trying to get its ip address, but i really don't think it should take this long.
sorry for the long post.
PLEASE HELP! |

the default setting for the VT2442 is its giving out DHCP or dynamic IP, try doing a power cycle, turn off all the device in your network and turn them on one by one, starting from your modem, with a minute in between devices |

I don't believe Vonage works with satellite internet. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Thank you for your replies,
but unfortunately nothing works. I have tried several times what joel suggested and nothing. My wireless is just fine always has been. I tried vonage about a year ago with a retail package (linksys wireless) and it worked great. however i didn't keep it because we got a new/used number and kept getting calls for someone else, (at least 20 a day) we just never got back to signing up until now.
To tell you the truth I think the problem is the phone adapter. I just waiting for tech support to confirm this.
Any more feed back is greatly appreciated |

vonage can work with satellite internet but there is big possibility that the voice quality is not that good, you may experience choppy audio or on way audio, becaue the upload speed for satellite connection is low |

That usually seems to be the case, but we appear to have something additional here. The VT2442 should at least be able to get its IP. |
