I am constantly having to unplug my Linksys WRTP54G router and reboot it every 20 minutes or so when it loses the internet connection. This just started a couple of days ago and I've had my Vonage service for months. I'm wondering if it could be a defective router or is something else the cause. The router is in a cool area so I don't believe it's overheating. I replaced the coax cable with a new one but that hasn't helped. Does anyone have any other ideas? |

Call your ISP and ask them to check the Transmit and Receive Channel Power of your modem.
Also check the Linksys website to see if there are any firmware updates for your router. |

First, try disconnecting the WRTP54G and connect your dsl or cable modem directly to your computer to see if it loses the internet connection. If the connection is lost, your problem is with either the modem or your isp and not the router.
FYI, all firmware updates for the WRTP54G will come from Vonage automatically NOT Linksys. |

I feel your pain...I am having the same problem with my DLink DI-524 router and a Dlink VTA. I've had Vonage since Oct 2005 and this problem started a month ago. I bought new router, had Time Warner replace modem, new VTA and still same problem. After hours on tech support on my cell phone. I finally broke down and called Time Warner for their digital phone service. The only new feature that Vonage rolled out was that the phones automatically call in to the server every 30 minutes. I think that is the problem but they said it can't be turned off and there is no way of changing it. It is a shame because I used to like Vonage! |

Are you running any P2P or filesharing applications (or have you run a spyware scan to make sure you aren't running one without your knowledge)?
The WRTP54G is terrible under heavy loads, or lots of "half-open" (open, not used, but not specifically closed) connections. |
