hello everyone,
my bro sent me a motorola vt 2442.i have sify BB connection.i'm literally not having any modems like cable or DSL.they provide me cable from wall which i plug it at the back of my computer.so what i did was take that cable and plug it at the back of my motorola vt2442 blue internet slot.taken the yellow cable and conected it at the back of my computer.
Light status:
power light blinking occassionaly in green say like two to three times.i'm having a convertor for my power adapter.
ethernet no:2 light is ON solid
internet light blinking ON and OFF.
Things that i have tried:
when connecting the cable from wall to my comp directly.i'm getting public ip in the range 10.217.XXX.XXX,default gateway same in 10.217 range.i have no static ip set on my comp.i never use any username and password everytime for logging into my internet.so i thought i don't need to select pppoe.i selected DHCP.but it showed me the above light status.so i called sify and asked them whether they have any username or password for me.they gave me one.so i selected the pppoe in router page under WAN configuration.entered my username and password.No improvement in anything.

I'm just wondering anybody can give me any help or any suggestion.plez ppl it's been a month.i have learnt alot from this forum.i can help someone to configure for BSNL connection now.but for the setup that i'm having i'm stuck i don't know what to do next.

Are you able to log on to the VT2442 admin page with the computer that's plugged into it? Check and make sure that the VT2442 is set up to get its IP dynamically as your computer is. Check your cabling and make sure that the cable from the wall is plugged into the VT2442 WAN port. Also, check with the Sify folks and make sure that their service doesn't insist on only working with a particular MAC address. If it does, you may have to use MAC cloning or have them set it to work with the VT2442.

By the way, if Sify is worth a hoot, their people should be willing to work with you to make this go. Just don't emphasize the Vonage aspect. You have a router that isn't working with their service and you need for them to help make it work.
