Post subject:
I had my Motorola VT2442 on Verizon DSL and AT&T DSL before this cropped up, and have recently switched to Charter cable. I was surprised to find out it wasn’t Charter’s problem.
What added to the annoyance was that this was a PC only problem (on both IE 6 and Firefox 2). Our new iMac had nothing of these problems, on Firefox or Safari.
I ran traces on the data packets and found out the DNS was reporting “server failure”.
I found what fixed the issue (this thread) when trying to find out how to read the DNS server information from the router – although it would have helped troubleshoot the issue to hook my PC directly to the cable modem, it was still my intention to get this to work with the router hooked up as it provides my phone service.
Seems Charter’s DNS servers must be timed differently or respond differently so this problem happens on their service and not on AT&T or Verizon. Logic pulled me away from blaming the

box. Logic can often be wrong.
Thanks for a great forum, I hope to be able to give something back too.
