Help! DTV DVR With Tivo Phillips DSR704

I been going through the DTV Thread about Success Stories.
Most of the info helps. I can use just about any setting & I can dial in, When I get to Negotiate, it just stays there. Then it gives me the Failed to Negotiate. HELP PLEASE!
I haven't been able to get my new updates installed since I bought the Thing back in 04. I am still on V. 3.1.1e etc./

my 704 works prefectly --- you need to get an external modem and then it will work ,,, look for the threads at tivo community

Can you tell me or show me what a external modem is? And where it goes??

and any old external modem 28.8 + will do so u can save $$ and make you own cable too

Well guess I will live with what I have.
I have no money to do that with. I'm 16 & no job.
