Any advice on getting Vonage to give me the prefix 378 or 375 (Palos Verdes Estates) in the 310 (California, Malibu to Palos Verdes Peninsula) area code? The best I have achieved with Customer Service is a restriction to the Redondo subset of prefixes in 310 - which covers about 8 cities, including Palos Verdes Estates. It's a $9.99 charge per try for Vonage to pull a number out of the Redondo hat of 40 prefixes via their cooperaing CLEC.

Last posting I read, is you pick the area code, Vonage picks the number (and you have no choice).

No Tallahassee for 850 when signing up for Vonage...

It's all being used up except Pensacola, FL.

I don't know where you actually reside, but if you're in that local area now, wouldn't the most sure-fire way of getting the prefix you want would be to sign up for a landline phone with the local phone company and then port the number over to Vonage, and cancel the landline?

It would cost a few bucks to sign up and establish the service in the first place but I would think the local phone company might be easier to convince to give you the exchange you want than trying to get Vonage to pull one out of a hat for you.

Just a thought....

Hallo, guys! Maybe you will be guided by this website:
www.localcallingguide.com
Simply fill in your area code and prefix. When you click submit, you will be able to see all the other prefixes that will be local in your specific city/area/town or location. So if your number is not portable, get the area code of your choice and be guided with the prefixes local in your area thru localcallingguide.com and find such prefix under the town covered by the area code from Vonage website. Hope this would help. Peace!

Sorry, Vonage doesn't own the numbers.
If you want 310-375 or 310-378 then call Verizon.

I am a new subscriber (still within the 30 day trial) and I was assigned a number with a prefix 53 miles south of me. Surprised Rolling Eyes This of course is a problem with tolls for others that call me. It also means I can not call from work or the school can't dial my home if something happens with the kids. Is there a way to get a prefix in the same world as me or do I call it quits on this thing and punch out while I can?

Thanks

what i could wisely suggest is call Vonage, request for the area code
and clarify the town(for the prefix) where you are using the service.

i could only presume that if you signed up w/ an agent maybe he/she forgot (?) to ask you for the (parameter for prefix selection) town.

anyway, hope this helps.

Thanks che. I hope that's a possibility. I e-mailed the Vonage Tech support tonight and am awaiting a response.
