well you can only change the area code,
and ive checked the website and here are the available towns for the area code youve given us:
Bellflower, Beverly Hills, Calabasas,
Carson, Compton, Compton,: Compton DA ,
Culver City, Downey, El Segundo
Encino, Gardena, Harbor City,
Hawthorne, Hermosa, Beach, Inglewood
Lakewood, Lawndale, Lomita,
Long Beach, Los Angeles, Lynwood,
Malibu, Manhattan, Beach, Marina del Rey,
Pacific, Palisades, Palos, Verdes, Peninsula, Paramount,
Playa del Rey, Rancho, Palos Verdes Redondo
Redondo Beach San Pedro Santa Monica
Santa Monica DA Santa Monica: Mar Vista DA Santa Monica: Santa Monica DA
Sherman Oaks South Gate Studio City
Tarzana Topanga Torrance
Venice West Hollywood, Wilmington

and then choose the town that is near your house and Vonage will automatically give you the prefix

as far as i concern,

you can select your area code that you wish to have
but the prefix would depends if your rate center is available..! Sad

The out of local area number thing has been fixed. Now we can't answer 4 out of 6 calls. I suspect the ISP (COX) but have not verified yet. Latency and slow upload speeds seems to be the norm lately. PITA this is becoming but Vonage has been responsive so far anyway. COX is a different story for sure.

I have the same problem where I live, the 613 area code is huge. I can't get a local number so I chose an area code where most of my family resides.

There are local access numbers or better yet call the toll free number and give this toll free access numbers to family and friends. Note, this number is no longer listed in the v-access page so you need to write it down.
