I have a WRTP54G with a DSL connection. When I tried to connect It says connecting and then throws up saying cannot reach PPPoE server.
I used another Compusa Wireless router I loaned from a friend with my DSL connection and it was able to authenticate and connect to the Internet.
I now have the linksys behind this compusa router with obtain DHCP on the linksys WAN port ie the linksys connects to the compusa router just as an PC or laptop. It works fine - I am able to get my calls in. I can also use my laptop connected via the linksys to browse the internet in this mode.
However I want the linksys to be the primary router/gateway.?
BTW - I have checked all the basic cabling and power related issues. the linksys does not have a good debugging option eg log etc hence not really able to tell what happens during a PPP handshake.
It has been working for over 2 months and just stopped yesterday morning. Not sure what happened?. THe linksys support stated this is a model they dont support since it is from Vonage
I want to reflash the firmware if it is 1.62 or get the latest one just to eliminate this OR any inputs anyone has had would help.
My current firmware revision is 1.62 |

Do you need to run PPPoE for your DSL connection? Many providers have gone away from that and run straight DHCP anymore. |
