From Dec 05 till July 06 had no service hooked up but was charged. Now in Aug when they say could not process credit card(money was there) will suspend service. Am disabled and hooked to lifeline monitor. Can't get hold of live person or customer service. Finally paid from husbands card. Want my money back from 7 months of no service while paying for other phone service. How do I get help. Very angry here! If no answer will take legal action. Am on lifeline and cannot afford to live without phone. have billing history to prove it![align=left]

Well I finally got ahold of Vontage. Explained my situation to them and they laughed at me. Can you believe that? Told them I will not pay for 7 months of not receiving service. They finally just connected their darn box in July 27th and I haven't even got my LOA transferred yet! it was just submitted in Aug! They said we will not get a refund nor a credit because the box was in our house even though it was not being used.
I paid for 2 phone services for 7 months. 1 that worked and 1 that was never hooked up. I am hooked up to a lifeline monitor. When told that...they said....well just pay . I am now contacting my lawyer, the Vontage will be gone ASAP and I am contacting my local television station. I want the world to know how they treat disabled people. Ticked off big time now.

Why did it take you so long to call?

If you tried for months to get through with no luck (and that seems hard to imagine since I've had no trouble reaching Vonage customer service when I've had problems), why didn't you just send the Vonage box back via registered mail so they couldn't deny receiving it?

I can see your frustration at having problems but seven months is an awfully long time. That's well over 200 days.

The question is: Does or should Vonage treat "disabled" people differently?

First of all, I didn't order it. My husband did. Yes he should have sent it back but he was hemmimg and hawing about whether he wanted it or not. May I also state that the phone service is in my name.
I thought you were not allowed to change a persons phone service without the person who actually has the bill request first? Why would they do that without my consent? And a $40 cancellation fee to send it back?? What a joke! The box was paid for once. Why pay for it again?
I don't feel that people should laugh at people with heart and lung problems. Lord help them. What can I do here? Any suggestions? They will get their box back ASAP! Sad

I'm sorry about your health condition. That aside, I have had a lot of bad customer service experiences over the years with various companies....Vonage is not one of them so far. Why didn't your husband hook it up sooner?

You rational here is the same as buying a new car (your second car), driving it home and then calling the dealership 7 months later saying they should buy the car back off you for full price because you didn't drive it. Come on lol...... Rolling Eyes

Looks to me that the problem is in between you and your husband. This has nothing to do with Vonage. You guys ordered the service and it was you and your husband decision not to use it. Whether you have a medical condition has nothing to do with the issue.

First of all, I didn't order anything. Let's make that perfectly clear. Second, he never opened up the box to see nor read any materials. He ordered this from tv late at night.

I've been in and out of hospitals not really knowing what's going on. And when I found out about Vonage, I did tell him to send it back.

My question was: How could a phone co switch services without the person's permission? Isn't that called slamming or something? I never signed anything. The service was in my name.

Anyways...it is being handled. Are you guys sure you don't work for them? You sure sound like you do! Rolling Eyes

The fact that you took the time to create this thread is pathetic.

The fact that you use your illness as a way to get some sympathy is also pathetic.

Threatening to sue Vonage is also extremely pathetic. You're one of those people that screws up but looks for any possible way to place the blame on someone else. Pathetic.

You and your husband made a mistake purchasing Vonage. You can go ahead and lay ALL of the blame on him (and Vonage), as you've done throughout this entire thread, but you knew about the purchase a while back (as you've stated) and you allowed seven months to pass before doing anything about it. Also, pathetic.

Vonage didn't make you buy their product. If they made any changes to any of your current phone information, they were obviously provided with the information and consent to do so. Why would a big company, like Vonage, do something against the law?

Sit here and continue to throw a pity-party for yourself, but the only person to blame for all of this is YOURSELF. It doesn't matter what your health is. It doesn't matter if you're disabled. It doesn't matter if a person is in perfect health. Vonage OFFERS a service, they don't FORCE it. You guys wanted it, so you purchased it. You made that choice. You made the choice to no longer really want it and you made the error of waiting SEVEN whole months to do something about it. Once again, pathetic.

In closing, I don't even use Vonage. I'm just here doing research on it as a consumer considering buying it. I don't work for the company either, so save me the pathetic accusation of "sounding like I work for Vonage" just because I'm countering your opinions.

And lastly, don't blame Vonage... blame YOURSELF.

Right before I was getting on to post, I read that. Well...just to let you know...Vonage didn't think I was so pathetic. The matter has been handled and settled. Thank you very much.

I guess I'm not so pathetic after all. And I hope that no one ever has to be gotten in a situation where they may be acused of being so pathetic.

No need to post any more. This subject is settled and closed to my satisfaction. Smile
