Depends on the game...And if you have 10mps up and down...And I really don't think that has anything to do with Vonage... |

Fun Games!
BF1942
| Quote: | | As a rough rule of thumb, each player requires anywhere from 50 to 80 KBps. You need a *minimum* of a T1 to support a 16 player server, dual T1 (3 Mb) for a 32 player server, and just over 6 Mb for a 64 player server (although that can hit up to 7 or 8 Mb/sec depending on how many people are connecting and downloading maps). Basically you need some serious bandwidth for anything over a 16 player server and it should be dedicated hardware (i.e. it's only a server, no GUI or other apps running on it). |

BFV
| Quote: | Be advised, BFV has a higher bandwidth requirement than Battlefield 1942. This is due to the new features added in the game such as overgrowth and airlifting. We are working to optimize these further, but a simple solution includes properly choking your servers to the appropriate setting. We also recommend that you run only one instance of BFV on a server based on your bandwidth pipeline. Some rules of thumb include:
* 16-player: WinOS or Linux/1.8Ghz processor/256MB RAM/T1 connection * 32-player: WinOS or Linux/2.8Ghz processor/512MB RAM/T1 connection * 64-player: WinOS or Linux/3+Ghz processor/512MB RAM/T3 connection (You will need at least 4Mbit of bandwidth) |

BF2
| Quote: | 32 player servers typical usage is 80kbits down and 20kbits up, 100kbits total 64 player servers typical usage is 100kbits down and 20kbits up, 120kbits total |

You do the math! Do you have 3mbs up AND down? You upload bandwidth will be the biggest problem. |

Upload speed: 476 kilobits per second
Download speed: 4148 kilobits per second
So what now? |

Upload is the data you send back to players. Since that is the LOWER of the two numbers, it's going to represent your limitation.
476 kbit / bandwidth per client = number of clients you can support.
So, since arcking was kind enough to do your Google search to get the bandwidth numbers for BF1942, for example, at 50-80kbit, then the formula (assuming worst case) is:
476 kbit total / 80 kbit per client = 5.95 clients. In other words, at peak bandwidth usage, you could probably get away with 6 clients.
So take your 476 and divide it by the bandwidth requirements per client, and you have your number. The bandwidth requirements per client will probably be posted somewhere on the web site or in the manual for the game you are playing, or can be found on Google. |

It should hold around that if you are getting 1.5mbps up. |
