I am having the same exact problem. I have two dell laptops both running xp pro. it works on one but not the other. i am stumped at this point. dell said they won't help unless i pay for it because the laptop is recognized the device and this is as far as their warranty will go. anyone a usb expert out there? is it an usb issue? here is a reading from the log on the phone itself.

I resolved my issue on my dell D610 with the dell1450 wireless card. When I use the cabled connection i have no issues. I then downgradrd the wireless drivers and resolved the problem. |

I just spent this morning with tech support and the result is that the v-phone works fine on my desktop (wired or wireless), fine on my hp notebook with a wired connection but there is no audio with the wireless connection from the notebook. No other settings are chnaged and i can make it work or not workon the notebook simply by changing the active network connection. The conclusion seems to be that there is an issue in the wireless driver from Broadcom. I updated the driver but nothing changed. So, it looks like I am stuck with a wire or a new plug-in wireless card. Hope this sheds dome light and perhaps someone will come up with another explanation and a fix. |

I am having the same problem. I got the Vphone for my daughter who is deployed to Afghanistan. The device works fine on 3 different desktop computers with wired connections, it works fine with her friend's laptop with a wireless connection, but displays the above symptoms with her laptop with a wireless connection.
I just sent her an email so that she can try it with a ethernet cable.
For reference, hers is also a HP Pavillion laptop with Broadcom B/G wireless chipset.
I am starting to see a common thread here (HP Laptop, Broadcom chipset)
I called Vonage and they told me to try deleting the options.xml file.
We'll see.

I had this same problem, and the problem is most likely with a driver on your system. I had complete problems with my Compaq Presario V5000. It wouldn't work on it. I had the same issue; the phone would ring, but I was unable to hear or be heard by anyone. I really think it has something to do with the port that your sound card will use to stream internet voice and sound data. I just downloaded an older version of the driver from the website and installed it. Also, I would call Vonage and let them know about your problem. I know it takes forever to get in touch with someone!!!!, but they did give me two free months b/c my phone wasn't working properly. Good luck!! |
