After terrible hassles getting it connected and losing phone and internet only once briefly, then using it for about a month, it's worked well so far. I'm paying WAY LESS for phone service and high-speed internet than I was, and now can dial relatives or anyone I want without freaking about long distance rates. Happy customer so far.

I thought this post was for positive?

Anyway, I had some bad experiences at first getting equipment to work, but when you order the free equipment, you get what you pay for. The router I had was bad, and customer service was not to good about it.

Since then, I bought a PAP2 phone adapter, which was recommended by many posts. I will agree it's better to have a Vonage device dedicated to the phone only. When you combine routing ability and/or wireless into the same device, your asking for trouble. The PAP2 lived up to it's reputation. Since getting it, my service has been perfect. No reset issues, no problems what so ever. I have been happy.

Vonage is only as good as the equipment you get. Forget about the customer service, they hire idiots. But, I do not think you should hold that against Vonage, because customer service stink for almost every company these days.

Vonage is worth it for the price and the features. As long as you have a little patience with problems that can and will pop up in Voip technology, you will be fine.

I just can't see paying $40.00 a month to the ma-bells for a single line that really has no features. You can't call 2 towns away without paying per minute. The relief of being able to call anywhere is worth it.

I know that Vonage staff reads this. It is unfortunate that the PAP2 is only sold in retail stores and not online. I prefer it to the combined router device. Please explain why you do not sell the PAP2 online. My concern is that one day, when my PAP2 needs replacement, you will only have the combined router device.

What's wrong with the VTA? I have it and it works great.

I just looked at the Vonage site, yup, the VTA looks like it does exactly what the PAP2 does and doesn't have a router!!! Yay!

What made you decide on the VTA instead of any of the other Vonage devices?

I already had a (better) Linksys router and liked the portability of the VTA. The adapter is running behind the router just fine.
