Last night a lightning hit fried my Linksys phone adapter. Unfortunately it is out of warranty so I need to acquire a new one. Problem is, which one?
I loved the convergence idea of the WRTP54G, but it looks like it is a nightmare of a device to manage. I currently have a Linksys WRT54GS and it works fine for wireless connectivity and general routing.
That likely leaves me with the D-Link or the Motorola. I like the D-Link's simplicity but would like to get some feedback on how stable this is and whether I could get decent voice quality if I put it behind my Linksys router (the previous one was in front).
My BB provider is time warner cable. I have 2 PC's and 2 laptops in the house.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Lance |

The D-link like you said is simple its the best choice for you given your home network....you wont have to worry about having any issues with the voice quality with this device. The motorola in order to get optima voice quality would need to be first above your wireless router....did you try talking to someone in acct management about the device and see if they could work something out for you....if I had to choose I would pick the d-link |

IF you set up QoS correctly on your WRT54GS and it works. |

I haven't made any changes to the WRT router since I've added the D-Link. Is there anything additional I should do? |

If its working fine, no. If you start having trouble you'll want to set up QoS, either using the standard Linksys firmware or something like Thibor. NateHoy's guides have a good section about QoS: http://vonage.nmhoy.net/ |

I agree with you Father Vic about the Motorola Products. I have had bad experiences with their products and tend to stay away from them.
I have a friend that had the Motorola unit, it died, then it died. They sent him another Motorola unit, it died as well. Vonage just sent him a Linksys WRPT54G, and he's holding his breath. |
