I signed up for Vonage on Saturday, August 5 2006. I chose to transfer my number and I just got this off the web site: Updated Date: Number Transfer Progress History: August 6, 2006 Awaiting Letter of Authorization August 6, 2006 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received August 6, 2006 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Accepted August 6, 2006 Transfer Sent to Carrier August 10, 2006 Carrier Approved Transfer I got the approval e-mail from Vonage stating that the port will complete tomorrow, August 11th. I am not sure if it is because I live in the Metro Atlanta area as to why I got such a fast approval or not. I will update everyone over the weekend to let you know if it all truly ports over properly. Have a great day! |

By the way, in case someone reads this, does anyone know when the transfer date is chosen, what time of day does it usually happen? I found out that I do not have call forwarding on my Bellsouth line so I cannot temporarily forward my number to the temp virtual number from Vonage. So, I am trying to time this thing so my wife will not be without inbound service on our main phone number.
Thanks... |

Well, I am happy to report that as of 10:00AM this morning, I was able to call my number and get an answer at home! I disconnected my Bellsouth service from outside my house and connected my Motorola device to one of my phone jacks last night. I knew we could make outbound calls and receive inbound from our virtual number until the switch over today. Earlier this morning my main number just kept ringing. Since 10AM, my main number is ringing in through my Vonage connected equipment!
In summary, I was very worried about not getting my number ported over in a timely manner. In my case, the transition was much better than anticipated. Like I mentioned before, maybe it is because I live in a major metro area like Atlanta. So far I am very happy with Vonage so far. Hopefully many of you will have an experience like this too.
Until next time.... |
