I know that you won't be able to use your computer on the internet if you plug the D-link directly into the modem. The idea is to accept that for a few hours- overnight for example- and see if the D-link retains its dial tone that way. Establishing that may give you some insight about the source of the problem. |

My problem has been fixed. When my phone number transfer completed, I stopped having the dial tone issue. So I guess it had something to do with the temporary number. |

Actually it didn't fix it. Turned out my modem was outdated and needed to updated. That fixed my problem. |

I am now having the same problem. I replaced my modem a month ago and all was fine for a while, now there is no dial tone every morning...it comes back..but not with regularity. My wife is getting pretty mad about it. I'm not happy either. |

Your problem maybe related to your router's firewall. Disable it and see if that clears up your connection issues. |

When connecting these devices to the power, are u connecting to the wall or into a surge protector, ups? If u are using those, that could be the reason |
