Post subject: No new features in at least 18 months!
I have been using
Vonage
some 18 months now. When I signed up in Jan- 2005 CS told me that ACR would show up soon. It didn't. It occurrs that posting hear is like preaching to the choir. I just don't think anybody in
Vonage
is listening.

Gee, you get that feeling too? I think that we are all going to need to see a proctologist from all the smoke that is being blown up our A$$. You would think that the smart thing for
Vonage
to do would be to improve their product and let it sell itself instead of spending all their money on advertising. I like
Vonage
but everytime I talk to someone about how good it is, I have to add that there are some basic features (outgoing CID with name and number, ACR, DND...) that they do not have. Nor does it appear that they are going to have them in the foreseeable future. It's sad because I probably would have signed up at least 10 other people if
Vonage
had these features. Oh well, maybe when
Vonage
gets aquired the new people will change their business model. We'll see.

I haven't seen an update on E911 since June. I still don't have E911.

Me neither Hookbill.... But then I seldom call that number... In spite of the fact I pay for the service with a property tax, a county tax on every phone and a
Vonage
fee. I guess if E911 comes to my area I'll have to call them up and chitty chat with them for a while.

There are allot of requests for features, most aren't obsurd.
Vonage
isn't adding ANY of them.
It really stinks. Packet 8 seems to be more aggressive about adding new features (or already having them standard) for example out bound caller ID info, call blocking, etc. If THEY can do it, what is the hang up for
Vonage
?
Vonage
costs more and they give you less features. Now I am scratching my head and asking "who is the fool"? It must me us.

I'm a bit confused. I know their has to be times people can tell who is calling, such as my cable company or the electric company because it automatically does things that lets me know they know who is calling.
I just called my wireless phone and it knew who was calling. How would it know unless it sent out a caller id?
As far as other functions go, I really don't care because I don't use most of them. The only thing I wish they would do is complete the E911. Time Warner just took over Adelphia in my area and they say they will be offering that by 2007.

You are correct, they DO send the number you are calling from. They don't send your NAME and that is what people are asking for. Right now, it says UNKNOWN or
Vonage
Holdings, etc.. I think people are reporting several caller ID NAMES being sent to the people they are calling.
Some of the features they have failed to impliment are things I can care less about also. I don't care about caller ID. It's just the fact that we are dealing with a company who isn't listening to the people who pay their bills.
What is important to you might be low on the list for others. Myself, I care less about E911 dialing. But reading the Feature Wish List posts seem to be somewhat the same. Call block, caller ID, etc...

Thanks for that info. I wouldn't want it to say "blocked" that's what causes problems. I do understand why some would want call blocking (jealous ex's, bill collectors, etc.)
but I get pretty much what I want out of it.
My wife says it just gives out the number, nothing else.

Hey, neighbor,
Vonage
now has E911 down here in Summit County.
I dialed the test number (933) and it reported E911. And sure enough, the latest press release ("Vonage Turns Up E911 in San Francisco") lists Summit County, OH as one of the areas activated.
http://www.vonage-forum.com/article2797.html
The list is oddly alphabetized, I thought it was by county, but it's not quite. Anyway, our county is there.
You're in Geauga County, right? That's not on the list, and neither is Cuyahoga County.
The E911 feature is not at all dependent on the cable company... it's between
Vonage
and the incumbent phone company (SBC/AT&T) and the public safety answering points.
Vonage
and SBC came to an agreement to allow
Vonage
to come into the E911 system sometime last year, if I remember right.
Adelphia, or now TWC, isn't involved.

The last list I saw showed Cuyahoga County on the list. The link you provided was updated from the list I looked at but doesn't show every area where E911 service is provided. Geauga and Portage County still arn't on the list.
So If it's kind of going by phone territory then that would figure since I'm in Alltel land, as is Portage County and yes I'm in Geauga County.
My reference to TW was simply that they are saying they will offer E911 when they start their phone service. I wasn't inferring that the cable companies were involved.
