Hi,

It's been over a week now and speaking to several tech supports agents in India, I have not been able to reslove this problem. I've troubleshooted with them for 4 hours.

My phone transfer has been completed, but I have not disconnected by Bell line yet..

I have not plugged in anything except the ethernet cable into the VTA device and power of course.

The device is plugged into my D-link DI 604 4 port cable router.
The VTA device is in the DMZ, however, the Power flases 3 times / pauses and continues like this. It's not grabbing the config from the Vonage server. I can't login into the VTA either from a browser.

I have the MAC address of the VTA and I tried setting a static IP from DHCP for it.. but it's still not working.

I beleive the VTA device is configured with it's own IP of something
Anyway, I'm trying to find out this IP address and then change my router config to support it staticly.

Setting it to Dynamic DHCP does not pickup the VTA IP address.

Anyone else have instructions to correctly setup a D-Link VTA with a D-Link DI 604 router ?

I am using the DI 604 as well. I have had Vonage for about a week now, and my problem is that when I am looking at web pages, some will not load. If I click to open a link, the page won't be found, so after I hit refresh once or twice, it will find it. It is totally random, can be 5 pages in a row, or one out of 20 pages. I have tried tech support twice, even went to advanced tech support. The end of all that is nothing has changed. I am thinking of getting rid of the 604 and trying it again without. I tried that once, but I was unable to get a phone or internet signal. Looking at portforward.com it says the 604 is not usable with Vonage. So the 604 might just not work properly with Vonage.

Have you tried connecting the VTA directly to you modem? I'm sure that is one of the things the first level people in India suggest when troubleshooting.

My setup is DSL modem to my 604, 604 to VT2442, http://www.vonage.com/device.php?type=VT2442,
VT2442 to my computer.

If I go DSL modem to VT2442, then to my computer it won't work. No phone, no internet. I am expecting a new modem from telus in the mail soon, so I will try this configuration without the 604 and see if that fixes the problem. I think Telus just doesn't like the new MAC address so I will have to call them ahead of time and get them to check it in about 15 minutes or so.

The people in India, although they were very friendly and eager to help, did no good for me. The setting I used from them killed my internet so they sent me to advanced support. The guy in New Jersey was really good and helped me get my internet back. In the end it required a factory reset of the VT2442. Maybe you should try a reset with you VTA.

OK, I got rid of my 604 and I am only using the Vonage motorola. My internet time out problems have been solved. Vonage tech support told me it would not be a problem to use my router as well, but the telus guy told me it would. And the telus guy is right, since my internet is working well now. Hopefully this info can help someone else out.
