Bad Business Bureau has a lot of rebate gripes on there.
A lot of people were denied simply because they lived in apartments ... one per address, eh?
I don't usually mess with them myself, unless its a significant wad of cash. I think the only rebate I've done in years was for my laptop, and it was 150$ ... got it in three weeks. Hooray Dell! Oh and one for a 250 gig hard drive that brought it's price down to like 30 bucks.

I just got my rebate today, three months and two days after my service startup. I hadn't even called since it was not expected until "6 to 8 weeks after 60 days of service." Can't complain at all. |

Our programming and development team met today and I believe we are going to be launching a site devoted to this issue, where customers in mass can post "tickets" that identify the companies that abuse this type of rebate program. Not just the rebate handlers but the companies themselves who place business with the handlers.
Perhaps it will be a clearinghouse for a class action law firm to find business....
Shame that lawyers keep having to be given business, but, is there really options nowadays? |
That would be nice. I used to have problems getting rebates from Norton AntiVirus. So I stopped using them. No rebate, no additional business.
What I found helps with large rebates (like $100) is to spend $4.50 and send the rebate with return receipt via certified mail. I have never had a problem after that. They cannot deny they received it, and it appears the rebate company treats it better.
I wish congress would outlaw rebates or start charging fines or make them pay the user more when the rebate company makes errors. Make them pay your postage and all costs associated with getting your rebate when they don't perform as agreed.
A discount at the register would be better. |
