Many of you have already probably read about my port forwarding issues with the Motorola V2442.

I have two in my possession right now!!

I called customer service today to get them to take the Motorola's back and get a Linksys Router because it has the two rj-11 voice ports, and port forwarding works according to the users on this forum.

To make a long story short, I got an Account Manager named Frantz. He is shipping me out a new Linksys, waived the shipping charge because I got two bad Motorola's, and gave me my original 2 day shipping since I ordered the Motorola with two day shipping.

I have read about the so-called issues with Vonage tech support. Well let me tell you what, I was given great tech support today.

Frantz is a programmer and knows his stuff. He worked with me to solve my problem.

I am very happy with Vonage to the point where I gave great feeback about Frantz to Vonage via their contact website.

Now I pray that the new router does what it is supposed to do and port forwards to my Pirate Radio Broadcaster server.

Vonage Rocks.

I got pretty good customer support from them recently as well. They exchanged my Linksys PAP2 for a Dlink VTA. It's a long story and I have even more positive experiences with them recently but I'll post about that later after I have had time to see if my problems are solved.

I am in the same boat, lets see if port forwarding works on the new linksys router.

The fact that they would ship me the Linksys, and let me keep my Motorola installed and working, while I am holding a 2nd DOA Motorola shows that they care about there customers!

They could have forced me to ship back both before shipping another but they did not play games!

They do have my credit card and could bill me for the Motorola's if I don't return them. However, Frantz just cared about getting me up. I will ship the Motorola's back as soon as I get the Linksys!

I have had two very different experiences with Vonage CS...

The first one, which was terrible, was clearly an outsourced CS center, probably in India. The poor girl tried hard, but could not speak English very well and never truly understood my problem.

The second one, regarding the same issue, was outstanding...for one reason: I was talking to a knowledgable tech guy in the U.S. This only happened after I called the Vonage CS number and requested to be transferred to a representative in the U.S.

A friendly United Airlines employee told me, after a bad experience with United CS, that by law those overseas call centers have to transfer you to a U.S. representative if you request it. I don't specifically know of this law, but can tell you through experience with three different companies: United, Dell, and Vonage, that once I requested to be transferred to the U.S., they all did it cheerfully for me. I hope this helps some of those with Vonage CS problems... Very Happy

We will see how it goes now!

I just got my new router today. I need to take out the V2442, and then call customer service to have them transfer my number to the new MAC address on the router. Plus they are going to have to disconnect the dummy line they created so they could ship me out the new router with the rebate offer.

It is all supposed to be in the notes under my account.

Before I call, I am going to make sure port forwarding works on the new router. If it does my radio station located at [web]http://www.radio.galaxystorm.com[/web] will be back in business.

I am also installing the Hawking booster between the modem and the new router. I will give a status when it is done.
