I just received a D-Link DPH-540 WiFi phone. Configured as close as possible to http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic14371.html and other treads.
It's on a wireless network at the house, with security (get's though the WEP) but will not "register".
Suggestions?
Thanks. |

This may sound like a silly question -- but from past posts, it's not.
Do you have a regular Vonage account and did you add on the $9.99 monthly Softphone account?? If not, you'll need to so Vonage will send you the credentials for the Dlink phone.
That should be all you need to get up and running... Let us know... |

Not a stupid question. Yes I have a sphone account. I have read all the threads, and have set them as per these (there are slight variations in SIp and proxies, etc. I have tried all combinations. I have been working with D-Link technical service (much better response then Vonage tech support) and they have the same problem. It appears that it is blocked on Vonage authentication server.
IF not resolved too bad. Voice clarity is awesome.

I also have a new 540 which will not register. Environment is an open network at work and a secure network at home. The 540 sees both networks (but with only 1 bar - my IPAQ sees 5 bars) but hangs at the "getting IP Address" step. I also have followed the various threads provided by both Vonage and D-Link to get this thing going but no success. Any help would be appreciated. |

Is your DHCP router set up to offer another IP address or do you have it locked off at a certain number of IP's?
if not - I agree, this is VERY strange... What a shame too - that is one cool looking phone... Keep playing with it and keep us informed on any results |

So I have worked through this issue with both Vonage and D-Link. D-Link was very helpful, Vonage not so much. Probably was in two areas - the settings and the password (my password had a capital i which interpretated as a lower case L - took forever to find this one).
Bottom line, phone works great, I highly recommend it. |

I am using the DPH 540 phone and I love it. I have another provider that I using it with and it works wonderful. In fact with the phone you can use up to six providers. The reason that I choose to get another accounts is because the extra account Vonage give you is limited. With the other provider it is unlimited minutes, which has allowed me to reduce my cell phone bill. Because I am work and home and both have WIFI . I was out of the country a few weeks ago and I was able to use it like my cell. It was awesome. If anyone want to know my the carrier or want the settings I be glad to provide that antoniodeon@hotmail.com |
