I have had my Vonage/WRT54GP setup for 3 days. I installed it at home with Adelphia high speed cable internet and everything worked like a charm. Now, I'm on the road and using wireless high speed internet at freebie spots along the way (McDonalds, Starbucks, hotel lobbies, etc), unfortunately now my phone won't work. It dials the number and then nothing happens, no ringing, no dialtone, no busy signal, nothing. I am getting speeds of 11Mbps so plenty fast enough. I can't figure out the problem.
what am I doing wrong?
I have the power cords all installed, phone line into router,... my computer speaks to the internet,
I have a new Panasonic 5.8Ghz digital KX-TG5621 telephone. And am using a Toshiba laptop with an integrated 802.11b/g wireless. Windos xp...

Yes,
I do connect the phone to the router, I run the ethernet between the computer and the router, and all 3 are plugged via a powerstrip to electric outlet. Apparently without a hardline from router to cablemodem/dsl it won't work.
who knew?

Does your computer have Internet access in this setup? If not, check to make sure your router is getting an IP address, etc. If it does have access, the hotspots could be blocking ports. Try running the Voip test posted on this site, and additionally, the one posted on the sticky back on the main forum page. See if that works, if it does, post the results. |
