I also struggled with port forwarding on the Vt2442 - until I realized that the settings were working - but only for IP packets coming *from the outside Internet*. For any packets on my internal network, the port forward was ignored. It makes it very difficult to test that it's working!
However, I have made zero progress in finding out anything about the QoS... (outbound) voice quality goes to hell if I'm uploading files at the same time. The router obviously does not, by default, give priority to the Voip traffic, and no-one seems to know if it's possible to configure it (there are configuration screens in the router for IP QoS, but you need to know things like source and destination IPs). Anyone? |

Port forwarding did not work with the specific software I was using. Not only that but the router would lose its config intermittently after a power down.
The linksys is working perfectly, especially with the Hawking Booster.

So you're using the wrtp54g or wrt54gl and the vt2442? To go with the hawking. |

I am using the Linksys WRTP54G
I have wireless disabled.
The only reason that I went with this router was because it has the built in RJ-11 connectors for voice lines, and it was 50 bucks. |

There are generally 3 or 4 computers connected with teens banging away at IM and P2P file sharing (no copyright infringement I'm sure). All is well...but maybe I'm just lucky. |
I'm thinking of signing up with Vonage and using the VT2442 the same as you, putting it before my main router (modem>VT2442>main router>computers) so I can have voice Qos. Was it very hard to get this setup to work? |

That setup worked fine. But if you want to do port forwarding you may have a problem.
The only reason I went with the V2442 in the first place was for voice quality of service.
Since I purchased a seperate Hawking booster I have had no voice issues. |
