No, no one cares about "triggers" because they have no idea what the hell these are. Nor do people care about electrons, leaders, etc. They just care about what they have little knowledge of, that being "positive" or "negative" lightning. This is how the average person understand it all, if that.
The positive or negative designation is the trigger. The lightning itself is always negative. The average person should have a basic understanding ot this. This was covered in elementary school.

Follow up. My VT2442 arrived today, right on schedule. Installation took about 2 minutes, and the unit ran for a couple of minutes before the power light stopped flashing and the phone light came on.
Call quality is excellent, except for a faint hiss that I didn't have with the RTP300. Overall it's quite acceptable.
