Does anyone know how to correctly set up port forwarding with Motorola VT2442? I can't seem to get it to work right. I have done forwarding with my old router before I got Vonage, but this one I can't figure out what numbers to use.

You can't figure out what numbers to use for what, exactly?

From what I've read I need to make a static IP. I've done that before no problem, but this router has more then one IP shown. When I go into command and type "ipconfig /all" it shows a bunch of IP addresses.

There are two IP's shown under 'Ethernet adapter Local area connection'. One looks normal and one looks scrambled. (fe80::250:2cff: and so on) as well DNS Server has one that looks normal and three that are scrambled.

Two IPs under Tunnel adapter 'teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface'. Both look scrambled.

One IP that is also scrambled under 'Tunnel adapter automatic Tunneling Pseudo-Interface'

Basically what I did was use the ones I could read in Ethernet adapter Local area connection. Then I entered them in to the Connection Properties. That Should have set up a static IP.

Then I took those numbers and put them in my Router port forwarding config. (Destination IP Address, Destination Netmask, Destination Port Start/End/Map)

Everything was ok going in except there was just 0.0.0.0 in Source IP Address and Source Netmask. I dont know if that is correct, or what to put in there. For the protocal I put TCP and UDP. The port end/ start / map was all 48737. Thats the port I have set in uTorrent.

uTorrent still says its not configured correctly.

"Checking port 48737 on 24.226.6 ... (this is not the same as my static IP, Is that the problem?)

Error! Port 48737 does not appear to be open."

Something must be set up wrong or I'm missing something. Confused

The "scrambled" addresses are IPv6 addresses. The ones that start with fe80 are local link addresses.

Which one use as my IP address in Network Connections then? To log into the router config it's http://192.168.15.1/

The only IP I can read is 192.168.15.2. That can't be the right one. That's too easy to figure out. I tried putting in the IP that people can see through websites and that doesnt work either.

Also what is supposed to go in Source IP Address and Source Netmask? is it supposed to be blank

First, it sounds like you have too many protocols turned up on your PC. Do you have a real reason to run IPv6? If not, turn it off.

I actually don't know what it is for, why its on, and how to change it.

I just got the router mailed to me and pluged it in... then tried to set up port forwarding. Haven't set up anything else yet.

It sounds like you need to hire someone to set this up for you. You said you see this when running ipconfig. That's on your PC, not the router. I think you need to find someone that knows what they are doing to fix it. It shouldn't take very long, but if you don't know what you are doing it could take days using this forum with no guarantee that you won't mess up something else.

Hmm.. thats weird. I thought it was Vonage that created it. I've never seen the ipconfig before like that. Just before I got the Vonage I formatted my PC. I don't think that would have done it.
I guess I'll have to look into it some more. I don't want to pay anyone. That will cost too much.

thx for the help

The addresses came from the adapter, but it's the OS your PC that determines what protocols are running. That needs to be set up correctly before you try to do anything else.
