I currently have 2 Vonage lines, running off of two PAP2 devices in my home office. I bought the units separately as I wanted to take advantage of the rebates (!), so one line is in my name and the other is in my girlfriend's.
Anyway, I am moving to an office space next month and would like to bring a PAP2 device with me and connect it at the office. Thing is, I want to have the second account active on the second phone port, so that I can make/receive calls on either line at the office.
On top of that, I would like to essentially "mirror" the setup to the other PAP2 and leave it at home. That way I can make/receive calls from my home as well.
Is this possible?
It would be so cool to be able to have the lines at both locations. I'm still paying for the accounts, so why not?
TIA! |

You can only have one account per adapter...

...and one adapter per account.

No, neither are possible with Vonage as of now. |

bummer, but tahnks anyway.
So what is the second port for?
If I had two lines under 1 account, could the second line be on the second port?
Is it possible for Vonage to at least merge the two accounts into a single account, then activate the second port? Since it is under my girlfriend's name, I guess she would do some sort of formal transfer of ownership of the account to my name. Then I could at least carry back and forth a single adapter every day.
Still not ideal, but not as bad as carrying two adapters.
What about the softphone? Could I make calls through the softphone and incur charges on different accounts/numbers? That might work for me.
Thanks again! |

Another line on the same account.

Yes.

That's something that CS would have to do. I know people have been able to combine accounts before, but the two owners might through them for a loop. Its worth a try, but don't expect it to be easy.

The SoftPhone has its own account, so that won't work. |

its possible to transfer the number and device under one account, but it will take time, because they will create a ticket for it. and will need to verify the ownership, first you must cancel your GF account and ask them to transfer the number and device under your account. |

If i cancel my GF's account, won't I "lose" that number immediately?
Or maybe I try and do it all on the same call; have her cancel the account and then reactivate it on my account.
Do you think I would incur activation charges? As well as cancellation charges for canceling the other account? Even though there are still two accounts? |

i believe that there wont be any activation charge because the account is active but there would be a cancellation charge if the account is less than a year. a requirement for transfering the device and number swap, both account should have no pending balance. call Vonage CS and ask about MAC and DID swap. a21064Z |

Thanks for your help.
So if the account is over a year old, there is no cancellation charge? Does that mean I don't have to send in the PAP2 either? it's mine to keep (or unlock)? |

yup, the device is yours, no need to return it to them. |
