More extensions being picked up generally would cause a drop in line voltage. Some devices exist that can detect that drop, and light up a light.
However, if you are truly concerned about being tapped, and you are using a Vonage line, the solution is really simple. Don't tie Vonage into your home wiring, and don't use a cordless phone. Use a corded phone plugged directly into the Vonage adapter. No exposed wires, no way to tap the analog line.
If you are using Vonage, please look at the sticky thread "what to post when you are having technical trouble". Clicks and pops and other odd sounds could simply be line noise, interference, or even problems with your Internet connection. |
