I am not sure how to post based upon your format but here goes...
Location- Mohnton PA 19540
ISP- Comcast
Modem- RCA DCM315
Router- (1) Primary WRTP54G Voip and LAN (2) RTP300 Voip only
Test results- not able to get (another problem altogether)
OP System- XP Home

O.K. I had changed over my old Motorola VT1005V to the new Store bought WRTP54G and the number transfer went smoothly by using the online utility http://vonage.com/activate. But then when I plugged the RTP300 in I got no phone light no lan acess but the internet light and power remain on. What did I do!? The whole reason I have 2 Voip routers is that I have 2 accounts and I am thinking about adding a 3rd line. Now I have tried powering down and all that jazz but to avail. and everyone here knows the great wonders of Vonage customer service.

I would appreciate any and all help.
Thanks
Rob

I hate to say this, but it sounds like a customer service issue. However, check your wiring first. You are plugged into the WAN port on the RTP300, right? You say you have no phone, but do you have a phone light? Is your phone alive and not in service or dead and not in service?

ok heres the deal.
After only a 20 minute call to Vonage (I was Impressed) they fixed my problem.
10 minutes on the line with 1st tier support somewhere in India I think, 5 minute wait to get transferred to advanced support where I was pleasantly suprised to talk to someone from the U.S. who walked me through the whole thing in under 5 minutes.

The problem lie in the fact that I have 2 linksys routers.
Since the both have the same IP address i needed to change one in order for both account lines to work.

Steps to change IP address on your router for same manufactures:
1. Separate routers (no ethernet in between) you want computer to router you want to change with no internet connection.
2. Open browser window, delete all in the address box and type your routers IP address (I am describing a linksys device here not sure how this will work with others but pretty sure its the same) if you don't know the routers address then click your start menu then click run type "cmd" in the box then enter when you get a black screen type "ipconfig" and it will display the address.
3. The default router password and user name are "admin"
if that does not work reset router be pressing the reset on the back with a pen point or something of the like. then "admin" will work.
4. the screen that tis will open up to is your web based utility.
go down to the box that says the "Local IP Address" and change the second to the last set of digits (linksys is 15 to 16) then press "Save Settings".
5. One of three things will happen you'll get a ballon that says "limited or no connectivity" or a warning pop up box about changing the IP address or both.
6. Your browser window should now be at the screen that says file not found or no internet connection.
7. click start click run and enter "cmd" then run. This will bring you to a black screen type this exactly (without quotations of course)
"ipconfig /release" then hit enter it should return with IP address and subnet mask values of 0.0.0.0.
8. while still in the same screen type "ipconfig /renew" this will now recognize the router and display an IP address of 192.168.16.1. (this is linksys based remember so another manufacturer may differ)
9. Power down all componets in you system and hook everything back up. Power up and wait about 2 minutes or so and it should remedy the problem.

Now the tech said this is very common and if you don't trust me when you finally get thru to a Vonage customer support person tell them you have 2 routers of the same manufacturer and need to change ones IP address. As soon as they hear that they will bump you to advanced support cause they have no idea. Trust me I tried it to see if it would work.

Hope this helps even if you just think your crazy because your stuff workred before and now it doesn't!!!

Thanks for sharing. But why didn't the RTP300 work when you plugged it directly into the modem in response to Reebok's first message?

To be honest I have no idea. But when I went to get into the web based utility it had the info for the 54G not the 300 and I had everything isolated it was just the computer to rtp300 no internet no modem no 54g weird huh?
