Reply from Vonage to email I sent on 11/03/06:

Thank you for contacting Customer Care.

We understand from your email that you would like to have "Call Blocking" feature.

We regret to inform you that, we do not offer a "Privacy Manager" or "Call Block" feature at this time. We do not block any incoming calls for any reason. However, we do provide "Caller ID Display" which displays the number of the callers, so you can decide if you wish to take the call or not.

We understand the value customers gain from these services and we are constantly working to expand our features and services, but at this time we do not have a timeframe when we will be offering "Call Blocking" feature.

Boo, hiss . . .

Hrm... I could be wrong but it appears that, according to this site, they will HAVE to have a timeframe for this stuff pretty soon.

I'll agree that this would be a great feature to have.

I know of one device that has a feature that allows you to block Anonymous calls. The Motorola VT1005. In the device configuration menu, there is an option to enable Anonymous Call Block. That is the ONLY device that I have seen that allows that. Not even the Cisco ATA had that in the configuration, but as you can see, you can no longer purchase the device from Vonage. You would have to get the device through eBay or some second hand store if you'd ever find one.

I hope that is helpful. The only problem there in lies, convincing the Customer Care representative or technician to turn it on. It's in the middle of the configuration details if it helps trying to describe to techs.

another vote... particularly for anonymous call rejection. i hate anonymous calls and never answer them, but it would be extremely helpful to have the ability to block them completely. even with Verizon (the evil company it is) i had the ability to do this.

i'm not complaining (yet) about the fact that my name doesn't show up on others' caller ID boxes. first things first, right? Wink

cheers

I've been receiving calls from this number : 213 221 1002.

In looking it up on the web, it could be someone using a calling card or someone using telespoof.com. It's really annoying because I'm on the DNC list!!!

Ignoring it is one thing, but I wish I could just dump it all together.

The site you reference is speaking of time frames for 'call intercept' and other technologies used by law enforcement agencies to spy on all of us. It is not about the call blocking technology for the consumer.
