Hi, all. My phone works fine but I can’t use the internet with my Vonage router (RT31P2). Without the router I have download speed of 3Mps and upload of 250kbps.I have a Motorola surfboard modem. I tried restoring the factory settings, and enabling QoS. I can fix the problem by enabling the DMZ but I don’t like this fix because I can’t use my wireless network and it is a security risk. Any ideas on how to fix my problem? I thought that there was something wrong with my Vonage router so I tired SunRocket, but the SunRocket router won’t even connect to the internet with the DMZ enabled.Phone works fine though. I didn’t have this problem in Denver with Comcast.My ISP now is Charter.

your original post and your answer to #6 seem inconsistent.

Specifically, you mention a wireless network in your original post that doesn't appear in your setup.

Also, please repeat your Voip test at www.testyourvoip.com and post the detailed results. The forum test is giving you a level of lost packets that are inconsistent with your estimated MOS score.

Eventually I would like the following configuration

Modem->vonage adapter->Netgear wireless->pc

However, enabling the DMZ which is the only way I can connect to the internet prevents me from using the wireless network so all the test results are the following configuration

Modem->vonage adapter->pc

Here are the results from the test you suggested. Thank you for helping me. I really appreciate it!

Your Voip test results are a bit troubling, given that the score from Boston to you is pretty low. However, since you say that you've got good phone service, let's let that pass for awhile.

Before you got the Vonage adapter, did you have a solid working setup with the Netgear wireless router? If so, I would go back to that setup and plug the Vonage adapter into a LAN port on the Netgear. Set QoS on the Netgear to favor the Vonage box and you should get internet service for your computer directly from the Netgear and phone service through the RT31P2.

YES! YES! YES! Your suggestion worked! I placed the Netgear box between the Vonage router and the modem and now I can use the phone and surf the internet. Steve Gray, you are my hero! Vonage needs to be paying you for your time and expertise. Let me know if you would like a testimonial. THANK YOU!

That's great. Thanks for the feedback.

By the way, as long as you're using the wireless router, be careful about using cordless phones. 2.4 GHz cordless phones can interfere with the router and cause really weird problems.
