Linksys RTP 3000 (Broadband Router with 2 phone ports) 6. Setup of Network : Modem---->Vonage Adapter-->PC Modem -----> Vonage Adapter --------> Wireless Netgear Router 7. My Vonage adapter disables the Internet connections every 5-10 minutes. The only way I can get my Internet to work without dropping is by unplugging the RTP3000 and connecting my modem directly to the wireless router (and from there to PC) That works without any problems. This has been going on since last week and my patience has worn out with re-setting everything every 5-10 minutes and customer care telling me to change perfectly good cables. 8. Speed test statistics --------------------- Download speed: 5606688 bps Upload speed: 738520 bps Quality of service: 98 % Download test type: socket Upload test type: socket Maximum download pause: 30 ms Average download pause: 3 ms Minimum round trip time to server: 90 ms Average round trip time to server: 234 ms

Chances are that the router's not "disabling internet access" as much as you're probably overloading and then crashing the router. The RTP300 is a pathetic router and any substantial amount of traffic will choke it.
Suggestions: 1) Stop using peer-to-peer file sharing programs & VPNs. -OR- 2) Buy a real router and let the RTP300 act solely as a Voip adapter (MUCH better option). |

You mention already having a wireless router. Connect that to the modem and connect the RTP300 on its LAN side. If you can, set QoS on the wireless to favor the RTP300. |

No, there is no need to overload; even when no one is using any web applications (let alone peer-to-peer), it simply crashes.
Any suggestions on 'real' routers? Got this one for free from Vonage; don't know much about broadband routers. |

Do a search on the forum. I think the knowledgable networking guys have been recommending the WRT54GL with 3rd party software. |
