My guess is that you're having problems with your internet service, but intermittent problems are always the hardest to track down. When it happens, does it persist long enough to run some tests? If so, get a comparison test before the problem using both the testyourvoip site and the forum Voip test and record the detailed results (everthing- you haven't really included everthing in your last post). Then try to do the same when the problem is occurring. If the problem persists long enough, and especially if you can see a difference in the two sets of test results, try to remove the RT31P2 and repeat the tests with the computer plugged directly into your modem.

There is nothing in your current results that I see that explains your problem.

Are you having any other issues with your internet service? What kind of service is it- cable, dsl, etc.? If cable, is there any visible effect on television reception?

Good idea to try and catch it "in the act"

Thanks

Well...I since had some issues with static bursts when people called in...Customer service (the 3 calls I had to make for these issues...I admit I didn't have to be on hold got TOO long..but talking to some of the first level support is frustrating to say the least) had me change over the phone port to # 2 and everythings been cool since...

The only bummer is that my LINKSYS is out of warrantee and if I send it back I will have to pay for the next one!! Mad

I seriously doubt you problems are "fixed" unless it happened on the ISP end which is where you problems likely are.

First level support is useless! We should just post their script here so that when people call they can automatically say they did all that stuff so they can get to the next level.

"ata not near wireless"
"ata plugged in it's own outlet"
"ata not ontop of appliance and IS getting adequate cooling"
"changed packetization didn't help"
"changed phone port didn't help"
yada yada blah blah!

Do you have anyone else on your home network? Any virus/spyware issues on your PC? Anything that could be hogging your upload bandwidth?

When you have the problem, are you always on the same device ?

Is it possible that you are simply having a physical problem with the handset or mic that you are using ?

Sometimes explanations are simple...just an idea. Question
