I've got a problem - Call Waiting function does not work with my wireless DECT phone in the part of switching between calls. While all the other things work ok (I can hear second call’s beeps and I can see the Call Waiting Caller ID ets.) the WRT54G does not react to the phone’s flash button. It seems to me that US Flash is something different even if the phone’s Flash is setup to 600ms.
I’ve tried to emulate the Flash by plugging-unplugging of the cord for less then a second with no success even worse because the WRT54G hangs up.
The WRT54G’s firmware version is 1.00.62

Any suggestions, please?

Are you sure you're using the flash feature on your phone? I'm using 600ms for the flash time on my USA-spec Panasonic with an RTP300 (basically the same unit as the WRTP54G) and haven't had an issue with it. Don't currently have any DECT phones here to play with, wish I did.

I'm not sure if it is really flash feature but the description of the button is very similar to USA-spec phone's Flash function.
I've found similar topic in archive: http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic7478.html
with the same problem. Unfortunately the final of the story is unknown.

I was wondering if the short (<1sec.) unplugging is an exact equivalent of the US-spec flash? Could you please try it?

I'm looking at the config screens on a PAP2 and it appears the default setting for a hookflash is 0.1 seconds to 0.9 seconds. Indeed, momentarily disconnecting the phone from the adapter does create the flash signal on my PAP2. Looking over the Vonage RTP300 config file, it says the minimum flash duration is 300ms (0.3 sec) and the maximum allowable is 1000ms (1 sec.) If your phone is capable of changing the flash time, try something near the extremes and see if it does the trick. Momentarily disconnecting the phone should work as well.


An easier way to test this would be to call a number where you'll get put on hold for awhile (Did someone say Vonage tech support?) and then try to do a hookflash using the phone, yanking the wire, etc. If you're successful, you should get a 2nd dial tone. THEN after that you could try to do the call waiting deal.

ALSO, there's something called Call Waiting Deluxe, which I've not seen implemented in the USA. CW Deluxe uses some sort of additional signalling when managing the calls, and I'm pretty sure the Vonage adapters don't support this. CW Deluxe gives you the option to answer/reject the call, in addition, it'll let you send the call straight to voice mail, bring it into the current call (instant 3-way call), among other things. Because of this, if your phone is set up to allow Call Waiting Deluxe features, it might not properly handle regular call waiting...but I'm speculating on this, as I've never had the chance to play with a system which supports the feature.
