I have a 6 year old Nortel Meridian system with 3 pots lines.
Can I get rid of the last 2 and replace them with one Vonage Line?
So my Pots line # 1 will roll over to Vonage?
Any good sites on how to wire and program this? This is greek to me
Thanks

You'll have to tell us a bit more about that N-M system, but if you want a roll-over for incoming calls the answer is no. The POTS provider has no way of switching an incoming call to Vonage if the POTS line is busy. If, on the other hand, your N-M system is just selecting a line to use for outgoing calls, it's very likely that it will work fine with a Vonage line as one of them. |

I dont know enough about the phone system to be of much help. I have a Norstar Plus Compact ICS NT7B56 http://www.1800laphones.com/nortel_networks_norstar_compact_ics.htm
3 lines and 7 extensions. No caller ID card. and Meridian 7310 phones I think. I dont know how it rolls over. It was set up before I moved my office here. I have looked at the documentation for programing it. I know computers but this is alien to me.
Thanks.

Here are a few Links for the Nortel Phone Systems Nortel Phone System Forums
Also you can read up at: PBXInfo.com and Nortel Portal
Both have a lot of info on Norstar and Meridian PBX and Phone Systems.
Good Luck and let us know what you find out, there are a lot of customers with Norstars and I am sure they would be interested in finding out how to connect thier systems to it too. |

Well the short answer is yes you can. I assume you have an old 4X8 system. The telco can roll right over to the Vonage numbers. You might want to consider having Vonage take all the numbers. You get a lot more control and save a lot. |

If you have the Compact ICS System - This is a regualr Loop Start system and you will be able to just move the lines from Vonage right onto your system. If you have either 66 block or a 110 Block, you will have to put an RJ11 on there to accomodate the lines from the Vonage device since they use RJ11 connectors. I have the Nortel ICS in my home using Vonage and have no issues. |

I heard that you are not allowed to connect a pbx to Vonage? Is that true? |
