I told you that you wouldn't have to wait long, but I didn't see this one coming:-
Gizmo Project offers free calls to landlines, unrestricted, forever:-
http://www.engadget.com/2006/07/20/gizmo-project-makes-all-voip-to-landline-calls-free-forever/
Now the real fun starts - this is the level the competition have to beat, and this is where triple-play becomes the sole objective of the cable and telco companies. With this offer, people you call must be in your contact list, but it's the beginning of the end of "paid for" Voip. Voip is now officially free.
This will have a big impact on the Vonage userbase figures. I anticipate a lot of defection. |

Let's see if I'd switch?
I can call for free, but if I want to receive calls, I have to purchase a special call in number??
Wait!! What about my phone number for the last 14 years? I can't keep it?
No thanks!! |

Number portability is easy - that'll come.
But that's missing the point, which is the fact that the competition has now started, and what is clear is that it will go all the way down to "free" (perceptively). |

I doubt we're talking free.
Price competition -yes-
In all commodity products, low cost provider and critical mass are the keys.
You won't get any new entrants. So the players you see today are the ones you'll see 5 years from now. |

If Vonage will get rid of Citron only then that this stock will go somewhere. The only direction that this stock is going for now is down. What is the bottom for this stock anyway? .01 cent? |
