My Vonage service has been flawless since September 2004 until last May. Since then on most incoming calls, the audio is very choppy. They can hear me fine. If we hang up and I call them, then all is well. Here is my info: Location: Hollidaysburg, Pa ISP: Atlantic Broadband Cable Modem: Motorola Surboard SB4100 Vonage Adapter: Motorola VT1005V Setup: Modem --->Phone Adapter---->Linksys BEFSR41 Ver 1.2 Issue: Choppy audio on incoming calls Voip Test Results: Speed test statistics --------------------- Download speed: 2851416 bps Upload speed: 272400 bps Quality of service: 94 % Download test type: socket Upload test type: socket Maximum download pause: 26 ms Average download pause: 3 ms Minimum round trip time to server: 26 ms Average round trip time to server: 28 ms

Any ideas? |

I see nothing in your Voip test to suggest a problem. Please run a comparison test at www.testyourvoip.com and post the detailed results here. Maybe that will tell us something. |

Ok - Here are my results from Testyourvoip.com Note - My internet slowed down to 19.3 kbps - yes 19.3 today. Finally called ISP and the tech had to replace a defective file in my cable modem. Hopefully this also was my Vonage problem!!

Wow. It doesn't get much better than that. So is the Vonage fixed? |

I was just visiting the forum to look for just this issue. For the past couple of months my wife has complained about having garbled or staticy sound on her end when people call her. It is (based on my experience) fine on the other end. She also said this appears to happen consistently when another call comes in and she gets the call waiting tone. This sounds similar to a problem I have read about here in the past....
Perhaps a lesson-learned here is to block Vonage from updating my adapter in the future. BTW, I am using a WRTP54G, solely as a Voip adapter.
Sorry, but I am not home to run any tests. |

After you do run tests, you might want to start a new thread. People tend to overlook issues added to the end of an old thread. |
