Well guys...... I had to go to the Lab this afternoon for a little while to test a few things that I have been working on for my beloved Employer. In Lab I have a couple WIndows 2003 Server machines (1 Laptop and 1 Desktop). So just for kicks I slipped my V-Phone Stick in the pocket along with other stuff. What I found out after mucking for good 30 minutes is that V-Phone "WILL NOT" work on a machine running Windows 2003 Server. The OS does recognize the device, but the "vonagesetupusb.exe" will not launch on this machine running WIn2K3S. And Yes I did try changing the "Compatibility" option on this file to launch the "vonagesetupusb.exe". But no luck! Has anyone faced a similar situation? And how about you Vonage 2nd and 3rd level Techies......... any solutions you can propose that I try. I have a machine in my home lab running WIn2K3S.... and I can help you test it, if you post something for me to try (it better be a logical and a smart try, other and installing and uninstalling or checking my drivers and all that....... I know I am pulling your leg, I am just ticked off at the Vonage support people) Later...... PS: Do you have code for Linux machine as well...... if yes, I can pass you my email (on the next post or privately) and can test that for you as well..... I have a few Linux machine available as well at my disposal. |

Did you follow the directions on the Vonage website? It appears you want to run StartVonageTalk.exe, not vonagesetupusb.exe.

The Microsoft Windows AutoPlay feature may have failed. Go to My Computer --> Double-click on the drive with the Vonage icon.
If it still doesn't work, AutoPlay may be disabled. Open the drive with the Vonage icon and double click on "StartVonageTalk.exe".

NO..... it just doesn't work! Apparently, the code will not work on Win2KS3, no matter how you try it. |

Did you try modifying Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration to allow http/s access for the v-phone software? I haven't got one to try, but I would expect that the Vonage v-phone software has to do some sort connect-to-home-server to start up and register a connection. Perhaps the Windows 2003 browser security lockdown is interfering with this, and needs to be modified to allow browsing. |
