I have to add my old VT1005V to my Linksys Wireless G Broadband Router which has 2 phone lines. I need to do this so I can add a 3rd phone line. The reason I am doing this is because I have a toll free number that is associated with my main number and I have no idea which line is ringing, the toll free or my main line. If I add a 3rd line on the VT1005v I can have my toll free number transferred to that line and I will know when it rings, that it is the toll free number.

I have the VT1005v hooked to an ethernet port on the Linksys to the WAN port on the VT1005v but cannot access the VT1005 (192.168.102.1). I have been online with Vonage Advanced Tech Support and they tell me that they will have an engineer activate the VT1005v from their end. So far nothing has been done. I should still be able to access the VT1005 by 192.168.102.1 so I figure my Linksys needs to be configured to allow the VT1005v.

If this is the case I need help in doing this because my Linksys config looks fine to me but maybe there's a port trigger I need to add.

you can't access the vt1005 "from the outside" it has no remote administration option, and you don't want it to be on by default since anyone who knows your ip can access your network. you have to plug in a computer directly to the vt1005 and access it that way.

Thanks for that reebok. So if I understand you I should be able to add that 3rd line with the VT1005v setup the way it is and it's Vonage's job to activate it on their end.

it's more like your job to tell them what you want to do. you can try going to vonage.com/activate but I don't think you'll be able to add a new line to the device like that. probably going to have to call them.
you can try adding a new line online also. they'll send you a new device with the number provisioned on it, and you can call and have them switch the number to your old device. now you have a backup device in case one fails.

The VT1005v was my original router and I added the Linksys. Vonage still has the VT1005v on their records so it's just a case of them being able to activate it which no one has been able to do. That's why it's been passed on to engineers. Crossing fingers!

I was under the impression that Vonage toll free numbers (as well as other "local" toll free numbers) are just pointers... They never really have an actual toll free line that rings.

Unless of course its a national toll free number.

which is why he needs the other line. to point the toll free number at it. it looks like he means a second line because he doesn't mention that he actually has two lines already, but evidently he does. probably a fax line.

Exactly. I have a fax line ergo the fax line and the main line are into the Linksys. The toll free is tied to the main line and I need to have the 3rd line to tie the toll free to.
