Hi
I have motorola VT 2442 in India and i use BSNL. I have connected everything as per the instructions. The internet works well and the power light on the adapter blinks and the internet light is solid. I am not getting an dial tone .
I have looked into the other threads regarding these but couldnt get any satisfactory answer. Could anyone tell me how to debug this? I really got fed up as i am paying the bill without any use.
Thanks Shanti |

tried calling techSUpport? verify if you're registering to one of their proxies.. if not, probably there's a need for this device to be reset to factory defaults in order to be registered to one.. and.. you might also wanna get some updates if it's already a govt thingy that currently blocks Voip service.. (like korea, macau... mmm) |

How many times is the power light blinking? Once? Means that it's trying to obtain a connection. Twice, trying to obtain an IP. 3, 4, and so on, registering and downloading configuration files. The hurdle is getting past 1 and 2. After all that, it will eventually go solid. If it's not solid, it's not working correctly.
Is your service cable or DSL? You may need to set up your router for PPPoE/Static IP if you have a DSL connection. Contact your ISP if you're not sure.
Tech support will ask you the basic questions that I'll ask you now: 1. Is the ethernet cable from the modem going directly into the blue Internet port of the VT2442? 2. Is there an ethernet cable FROM one of the available 4 yellow ethernet ports on the back of the VT2442 going to your computer? Also make sure your computer is set on DHCP.
After confirming this, and you have power cycled everything in order correctly, you can call tech support and they will try several things to force changes onto the device.
Most important thing is to know what type of ISP you have. Good luck. |

Blinking continuously means blinking once. It is not establishing a connection to the Internet. That means you will not be able to connect to Vonage's configuration servers. Connecting to them isn't something you do manually. The device will do that on it's own once it establishes a connection to the Internet.
You still didn't tell us what type of Internet connection you have. This is basic information we need. Perhaps you may need to call Customer Care. Their general support may give you the information you need. 1800-243-4357. |

Hi
It is DSL connection. I have tried calling the customer care. But the problem is that they need me to be in front of the device which is difficult as the device is in India. It is quite difficult for them to call from there.
So could you please tell me what to do next?
Thanks a lot Hope i can resolve this very soon Shanti |

Do a search in this form for BNSL (upper left menu has Search>Search Forums). You're not the first person to have trouble getting Vonage to work with them, BUT it does appear that most people are able to get it working after going through the directions in those posts. |
