I've got a T1 line that connects to my (macintosh) airport. When I tried to hook up the Vonage (Motorola) modem (T1->Motorola modem->airport), phone calls went through alright, but no web access for any computer that connects to the internet through the airport. Any suggestions? |

Incorrect answer. The airport functions as if it is a router.
Correct answer: 1. Connect Vonage modem directly to computer and put in settings that airport had (http://192.168.102.1) (that is, the Vonage modem will take the place of the airport) 2. Then set up the system with the airport (i.e., T1 or DSL line connected to Vonage modem that's then connected to airport). 3. Change airport settings (airport admin utility). To access airport, the IP address is now 192.168.102.100, subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and the router address is 192.168.102.1). In addition, enable DHCP server on Ethernet (Network tab)
Then you should be in business. But, if you're part of a much larger system, you better check with your network administrator about enabling DHCP server on Ethernet.
Unfortunately, I could not find this information out anywhere either on the Vonage site or in the apple discussion area. The only solution was to call Vonage. |

I don't know why you had to configure so much. I did modem --- Moto MTA --- Airport. Just plugged it all in and it works just fine. |

For any other Mac users this works flawless.
1)Adelphia 2)cable modem 3)RTP300 3a)Airport Snow 3b) Uniden DCT646 w/3 handsets 4)eMac (wired to Airport) 5)iBook wireless 6)Viewsonic Pocket PC wireless (WiFi)
I've had cable TV going, eMac on web, iBook on web and taken a phone call with no problems on any of them. |
