While I know the reply was not directed at me, I do feel the need to comment on a few things...

Thank God it isn't! No $60/line charges, no static on my line, and amazingly, I get a dial tone when I pick up the phone. All 3 of these things are problems I have with my landline provider. Vonage, sadly, has been FAR more reliable than my landline provider.

What ID-10-T would EVER fully depend on a new type of service for mission critical things like telephone ? |
Actually.... You'd be surprised how many businesses have gone Voip now. Granted, they're not using Vonage, but the technology (and often equipment) is the same. As far as depending on it? Well, the largest hurricane shelter in Florida does now, after losing landline service by Sprint (the local landline phone co) during/after each hurricane. The facility does use a different Voip provider than Vonage, but there IS a Vonage line in there as a backup to the other Voip lines. Multiple internet connections by different providers feed the building as well. Voip is a stable technology, unfortunately the residential internet providers (and even some of the commercial ISPs) aren't. |
