Ragga,
Without giving away any confidences, do you have a direct source of information? I heard that Skype was back on from a coworker today but have not checked it.
Skype is back on for Etisilat and Tecom users or just Etisilat.

Post subject: Thanks
Hi All
Have been away from Dubai for about 10 days, and returned to find the emmense volume of this post! A few comments:
1. Thanks to the constant updates, comments and advice from the regulars here (Ragga, Moh, Stu, Intrasemi, Jumanji et al..). Much appreciated. Have signed the petition, now at 2131 signatures!
2. My Skype is now showing "connected", have only tried to use it to call my home number, and it rang.
3. Got a call from a canadian colleague in Jumeira/Satwa area, his
Vonage
is now working as of Midday Monday 28th. A mutual friend near Al-Wasl/Park 'n Shop has had
Vonage
working fine until only 2 days ago! My PAP2 is back in the UK, was going to return it, so wil now get it back here by the weekend and will try it then.
4. Does anyone know if the TRA have been contacted at all, and asked about their so called "law", which makes
Voip
illegal?
5. I can appreciate the frustration of business
Voip
users in TECOM areas. As a home user under Etisalat, I fail to see how another home user in the TECOM areas should be subject to different "laws" regarding net usage than me, including
Voip
. If the block is lifted in TECOM, it should also be lifted outside those areas.
Cheers,
Chris

ChrisDXB - your post was so reassuring..if their
Vonage
is working maybe ours will too!
You guys I called TECOM again yesterday and the girl asked me all my info (a first) and again told me the same excuse "we're still working on it B.S." BUT when I asked her if complaints are still coming in, she said, well they are not as much anymore.
PLEASE guys lets keep calling them so that we can keep the pressure on! Otherwise they might think that they won!
THANKS!

hello all.. haven't been around as much lately as i have a guest in town.. but i am still optimistic that it will be working here soon.
chris, it was good to read your post.. i really hope they can get it working for our area..
as for everyone else.. i know it gets tiresome, boring, repetitive.. but make it a part of your schedule.. call every morning first thing when you get into the office, right before lunch, and then once more when you get home. 5 minutes total time a day is worth it.
