What about some carefully written letters to the International Herald Tribune, the Financial Times, and the Asian Editioin of the Wall Street Journal? If you get it published there you might be able to pick up some steam. Al Jazeerah is also a possibility. Al Jazeerah is clearly the closest thing to a free press in the region.
Once these issue are published there, the chance of getting more stories in the Gulf News and Khaleeb Times are pretty good. I'd love, to see stories about Etisilat robbing people calling Lebanon, Gaza, and Egypt (after the train wreck). It will help put a human spin on the people who are being hurt by these high rates.
