some programs conflict with VPN services like McAfee firewalls and some virus protection software. you may have to uinstall, then reinstall them after VPN is up. that could be it maybe?
their support staff seems responsive and they can tell you what to do probably

A hardware solution is supposedly shipping next week that you can plug
Vonage
ATAs directly into. contact
sales@witopia.net
for details.

Ok guys, I've been reading about this for the past month or so, we moved here a year ago, we've been
Vonage
customers since late 2003, back in the States (across 3 different ones) never had a problem with
Vonage
. We used it here all the time until it was blocked. The only thing I can say is, we need to keep up the pressure (I signed, so has everyone I know, that used to call me from back home), all that is gonna do is give us a little bit of relief from the frustration. We are in Abu Dhabi. Every once in a while, I think it's when they are doing either software upgrades or hardware maintenance, the block is down and you can use it for a day or two. Maybe for the meantime we can setup some sort of SMS system to alert each other. On the down side; I know of at least 4 people that have given up and canceled their lines.
Good luck!

Post subject: Off Topic -- What Does the UAE Charge to Call the US?
Can anyone tell me what Etisilat and Tecom charge to call the US. Do they charge different rates on contract or prepaid phones? Are landlines cheaper than mobiles? Do they offer any discounted plans (e.g. if you pay $15 a month, you can call the US for $0.15 a minute instead of $0.75 a minute).
Thanks.
